There is a mandatory training course (Preventing & Addressing Workplace Bullying & Harassment) for all UBC members on https://wpl.ubc.ca. There is some guidance about dealing with disclosure of incidents or complaints. Overview of steps for responding to disclosure:

  1. Recognize that a disclosure of discrimination is occurring.
  2. Listen to the complainant with empathy, openness and take the information presented seriously.
  3. Refer the complainant to EIO.
  4. Keep confidential, unless there is a safety concern to the individual or to the public.
