There is a mandatory training course (Preventing & Addressing Workplace Bullying & Harassment) for all UBC members on https://wpl.ubc.ca. There is some guidance about dealing with disclosure of incidents or complaints. Overview of steps for responding to disclosure:
- Recognize that a disclosure of discrimination is occurring.
- Listen to the complainant with empathy, openness and take the information presented seriously.
- Refer the complainant to EIO.
- Keep confidential, unless there is a safety concern to the individual or to the public.
