UBC President Santa Ono lectures in BIOL200

On October 13th, students in BIOL200 section 104 had a surprise guest lecture, when our university president, Professor Santa Ono, graciously agreed to come to class and speak about his own research history in diabetes and how it led to discovery of specific transcription factors involved in the expression of MHC class proteins that are involved in the human immune response. His work tied in very nicely with the topics that the students were learning about in class, and he did a wonderful job of making that connection to the students. Many students stayed afterwards to take pictures and speak with the president.
