Professor Wayne Maddison and Brother Professor David Maddison Receive President's Award

Congratulations to Professor and CRC1 Wayne Maddison (Botany/Zoology) and his brother Professor David Maddison (Oregon State University), who will be awarded the President’s Award for Lifetime Achievement by the Society for Systematic Biology this July. The award is given every four years to a person who has made outstanding and sustained contributions for many years to the field of systematic biology in all its aspects of theory, principles, methodology, and practice, for both living and fossil organisms, with emphasis on areas of common interest to all systematic biologists regardless of individual specialization.  While Wayne studies biodiversity of jumping spiders and David studies phylogeny of carabid beetles, the brothers have had broad impact by collaborating to develop software tools for the study of evolution, such as MacClade and Mesquite.
