The Biology program, jointly administered by the Departments of Botany and Zoology, invites applications for a Lecturer in Cell Biology for a three-year non-tenure track appointment. The position is a joint Botany/Zoology appointment (home in Department of Botany). The applicant should have a Ph.D., experience with teaching-assistant management and the Canvas learning management system, as well as experience in teaching large-enrolment undergraduate classes. We seek an individual with exceptional communication and teaching skills and a proven record of excellence in teaching. The successful candidate will teach Biology 200 (Fundamentals of Cell Biology) and coordinate this multi-section course. Coordination duties include organizing meetings of faculty who teach different sections; managing teaching assistants; and updating the website, learning activities, course materials (textbook alignment) and tutorial activities. Other duties include managing course and tutorial registrations. The job will include teaching other biology courses from first-year (e.g., BIOL 112, Biology of the Cell) to more advanced levels (e.g., BIOL 201, Introduction to Biochemistry, and others). Some service duties may be assigned by the Head of Botany. The position is a three-year contract, subject to demonstration of satisfactory performance by the end of the first year.
